Become a friend
You are invited to help families and build relationships with our members in our Friends directory! Become an integral part of our special needs community by offering your expertise.
Become a friend
Our Friends directory is a place where parents and caregivers can find families with similar life situations in their neighborhood. They can also find matches for their children based on common interests for play dates and other social activities.
On everyone’s profile, there is a place where you can ask for help or offer help. If you can offer help (answer questions on topics of your choosing via email), you receive a special icon and your profile appears in our Friends directory.
Parents can specifically search for members who offer help and send you an email. This is a great way to really assist a family.
Here's how to get started
Click on your Profile link at the top right of the screen. Select Update my interests. Fill in the text box, “What questions or topics could you help others with?” You might be knowledgeable about a particular disability, assistive technology issues, IEP questions, etc. Add that here and then check the box that says, Would you like to show the “I can help” icon on your profile?
There is space where you can set up a paragraph that introduces you to others. Here you can tell people about your experience (e.g. special ed teacher, therapist, consultant). Don’t forget to click Save at the bottom.
While you’re in your profile, make sure to add a photo of yourself!
