Your input needed on technology and education
The U.S. Department of Education is developing a new National Education Technology Plan to provide a vision for how information and communication technologies can help transform American education.
The plan will provide a set of concrete goals that can inform state and local educational technology plans, as well as inspire research, development and innovation. This will be the first plan since 2004. A draft plan is expected in early 2010.
Dr. David Rose, chief scientist and co-founder of the Center for Applied Special Technology will be part of this working group to develop a plan. “My role is to make sure the plan is conclusive of everybody,” Dr. Rose said. “Universal design is clearly supposed to be a facet of this report. People with disabilities and English Language Learners were not visible in the previous plans and so this is gratifying to see someone in the working group is meant to be representing that issue.”
“It is essential that the plan reflect the diversity of students in today’s classrooms and recognize that diversity as a strength of our education system rather than merely a challenge,” Dr. Rose said.
The plan development team is looking for insights from the field. Submit your comment on what you would like to see considered in the National Educational Technology Plan at https://edtechfuture.org
Dr. Rose is seeking your feedback on any relevant reports, effective technology tools or exemplary programs, activities or curricula that are designed to include and benefit all students. You can send your feedback directly to Dr. Rose at:
