How is my privacy protected?
Registered users are only seen by their username. Users may opt to hide their gender, age and location. When creating a profile, add as little or as much information as you like. When including family info, only birth year, gender and interests are used for your children. Contact between members is done through our mail system to keep your email address private.
The Find a Friend search is a parent to parent service. If a parent does a search and thinks both of your kids should get together, they will send you an email through our mail system. It's a "middle man" so each of you do not have to give out your personal email addresses. Based on your conversations, you can decide if you would like to take the next step to exchange information on your own or to tell the parent you are not interested. Every member's profile has a Report a Problem and Report as Spam button if someone behaves inappropriately or sends out a solicitation.

Can I change my username?
No, once you have selected your username you can't change it. Contact us and we can delete your entire registration and you can register again.
Can I change my password?
Yes, you can change your password anytime by clicking on Account at the top right of your screen.
Can I change my email address?
Yes, you can change your email address anytime by clicking on Account at the top right of your screen.
Why should I fill out my profile?
Find families in your area who share similar life situations for support. When members fill out their profile they can find other members in their neighborhood and set up play dates for their children in our Friends section. You can access your profile by clicking on your Profile or Account button at the top right of the screen.
What is a profile headline?
In your personal profile you can add a quote or short statement about yourself or your family. When parents look for members in our Friends section, this quote will be large and in bold.
Do I need to fill out my interests?
No. Your profile need only be as detailed as you want. In addition to telling members a little about yourself, you also have the option of requesting help or offering help about a particular topic. You may choose to include all or none of these in your profile.
Why are you asking for information on my children?
One of the more exciting features at One Place for Special Needs is your Family profile. You can add your child, teen or adult’s birth year, gender, diagnoses and interests. This allows you and others to go to your Friends section to find others in your child’s age group for play dates and other social situations. Remember to add siblings too! This is an optional feature on our site.
Why are you asking for my birth year?
Because we have social elements to our site that allow you to add personal information, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) dictates that no one under the age of 13 is allowed onto the site. On your personal profile you have the option of hiding or allowing others to see your age.
Why are you asking for information about my income/spending?
These optional questions help us understand our audience and the discrepancy families face between their income and how much they spend each year on products and services for their special needs child. This information will not appear on the site and it will never be identified with you personally.
If I move do I need to set up a second membership with my new zip code?
When you register, you include your zip code. This allows you the convenience of seeing local resources and events closest to your home and outward. If you move, click on Account at the top right of your screen to change your zip code.
I no longer need access to this website. How do I permanently delete my information?
If you no longer want to be a part of our special needs community simply contact us stating your desire to leave the community and we will delete your membership information. You are welcome to re-register whenever you like.
