Frequently asked questions: Alerts

What is alerts?

We're the only disability website where resources come to you! Click on Email Alerts.  Then select the types of Products, Local resources and Events that interest you. Here's a section of our Local resources alerts:

When individuals add new information in these sections, you'll receive an email update if it matches your alert.

You can chose how often you want to receive your alerts (daily, weekly, monthly).

How do I change my alert settings?

Simply click on your Alert. Then edit your information and save. You can change the frequency of your email alerts and even temporarily suspend them. You can check and uncheck your alert preferences and change how far away you'd like to see matching resources and events.

I've set up my alerts but I'm not receiving any emails.

Some email providers like Earthlink, Comcast and AOL have increased their security measures. They may consider your Alert emails spam. Putting webmaster@oneplaceforspecialneeds.com in your address book can help.

The alerts only look at new, not existing information in these directories. It's possible no new information has been added. If you are in a state that we have not reached yet, we recommend setting up your alerts. Then when we begin working on your state, you'll start to receive all these great emails full of resources.

My alert shows me duplicates of the same listing

Alerts allows you to select as many categories as you like. Listings usually belong in several categories/subcategories. Your alert email will show you the match for each subcategory you selected.
